In general, the areas where kiwi culture can be done are warm in winters, hot and humid in summers. It requires a non-frost development period of 240-260 days until the leaf fall in the awakening of the eyes. Shoots may be damaged in late spring frosts. Flower eyes and young shoots may be damaged at 1-2 ºC. Plants cannot thrive in areas with constant and strong winds. Yield old plants can withstand up to -13 ºC in winter, while young plants can be damaged at higher (-4, -6 ºC) temperatures. The average annual temperature should be 12-16 ºC and the relative humidity should be 50-70%. Plants between -6ºC and – 10ºC in winter, -0.5 Dec in spring shoots -2 DEC in autumn fruits are damaged. Although kiwi is sensitive to cold, it requires 400-600 hours of cooling below 7.2 0 C.
