Potato
Potatoes are a plant that is consumed the most in the human diet and as an industrial raw material after cereals due to the starch, protein vitamins B1, B2 and C contained in them, as well as some mineral substances. Potatoes are produced in different regions in our country for reasons such as easy adaptability to various climatic conditions, cheapness, getting more yield per unit area compared to alternative plants, high nutritional value. For high-quality production in production, it is necessary to correctly apply many cultivation techniques from the selection of the region to be grown to soil preparation, from variety selection to fertilization and irrigation, from disease control to alternation.
The difficulties experienced in potato production in Niğde and Nevşehir regions have caused potato production to shift towards Konya region. As of 2010, Konya region produces 7% of Turkey’s potato production and has a yield value higher than the average of the country with an average yield of 3.7 tons /da.
